We are pleased to announce the 8th International Conference on Chemical Looping (ICCL), to be held at the University of Manchester, UK, from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
This incoming conference is co-organised through the collaboration of the University of Manchester and the University of Cambridge. We continue the legacy of ICCL conferences, first established in Lyon (2010), and continued in Darmstadt (2012), Gothenburg (2014), Nanjing (2016), Park City (2018), Zaragoza (2022), and most recently, Banff (2024).
Chemical looping research remains one of the most attractive concepts for sustainable power generation and chemical production, bringing together expertise in materials science, materials engineering, advanced reactor designs, large-scale demonstration, and industrial deployment. The seven past ICCL conferences have demonstrated breakthroughs and new applications, from combustion with inherent CO₂ capture, through hydrogen production, waste processing, and, most recently, value-added production of chemicals.
As global interest in low-carbon and circular technologies accelerates, we invite leading researchers, engineers, and industry partners to Manchester to share results, engage in discussions, connect with new researchers entering our community, inspire new research ideas, and, finally, start new collaborations. We warmly encourage contributions drawing on laboratory studies, pilot plant operations, systems modelling, and real-world applications.
We are confident that this gathering will not only advance our field but also foster new connections between academia and industry.
We look forward to welcoming you to Manchester in person at the end of August!
The 8th edition of the International Conference on Chemical Looping (ICCL2026) will be the next exciting milestone for the chemical looping community.
