Prof. Zhenshan Li

Prof. Zhenshan Li is a tenured Professor in the Department of Energy and Power Engineering, Tsinghua University, China. Prof. Li received his PhD degree in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics from Tsinghua University in 2006, and has since worked in the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tsinghua University.

Prof. Li has mainly focused on the chemical looping technology, heterogeneous reaction kinetics, and CO2 capture etc. His specific research interests include the scale-up of chemical looping combustion (CLC) technology and development of long-life oxygen carrier materials for CLC. He was the project leader of 5 MWth CLC pilot demonstration, which has achieved more than 500 hours of continuous auto-thermal operation with different solid fuels. Prof. Li is now the leader of a National Key Research and Development Program of China project focusing on the commercial demonstration of 20MWth CLC technology in a power plant.

As the first or corresponding author, Prof. Li has published over 100 SCI-indexed papers and one book entitled Principle of Gas-solid Reaction. As the first investor, he has more than 20 patents in the energy field. Prof. Li teaches the undergraduate course Energy Chemistry and the graduate courses Gas-Solid Surface Reaction and Transport and Optimization of Thermal System and Equipment.
